Project to dredge Phan Thiet maritime channel commenced

BTO - On June 17th morning, Vietnam Maritime Administration (HHVN) organized a groundbreaking ceremony to build a construction to dredge Phan Theit maritime channels for vessels with a capacity of over 1,000 tons at Phan Thiet port.

The project is approved and adjusted by The HHVN under the Decisions No. 111/2019 and 679/2020, with the channel’s breadth of 45 meters and height of 4.1 meters. The total investment capital hits VND 27.3 billion.

Reportedly, the HHVN approved the constructional design, set up expenses and chose the investor, consultancy and relevant unit from 2019. However, due to financial difficulties, the project had not yet started then. Until May 18^th, 2020, the Ministry of Transportation has sped up the 5 urging constructions, including Phan Thiet maritime channel for 1,000-ton-capacity ships.

The investment project aims to dredge the navigational channel for ships of 1,000 tons while insuring the safety and convenience for maritime vessels arriving and departing the ports in Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan). The contractions contribute to developing the socio-economy, including the transport route form Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island.
